wats the video mean?

To be perfectly honest, the meaning of the music video is kind of easy and probably the first thing people thingk of when they hear the song. When you hear the word funky, you generally think of breaking it down and dancing. Gettin funky is a term generally used for dancing.

The music video has the singer with a couple of her friends in a 70s disco themed club. Actually, it would have been just a regular club cause it was the 70s back then. They are dancing and singing and having a good time.

Everytime they say "talk about it" the lead singers friends jump in. Obviously you cant talk about anything really unless you have people to talk with.

The music video i believe is more about having fun and enjoying life. If you do that, then you are in funkytown.

Anywhere is Funkytown

The music video for Funkytown obviously has a 70s disco theme, but if you look past it you can see the obvious.

There is no exact place called funkytown. Its not a state of mind that you get in through drugs or alchohol. Its merely your happy place.

In the video, the singer is dancing and singing with her friends, and clearly having a good time.

Anywhere where you can just enjoy yourself and live life the way its supposed to be lived, your in funkytown.

"Dream as if youll live forever, Live as if youll die today"

Live.Love.Laugh.Learn

Everyone of these posts has had the same general theme: Escaping. Whether it be through sex, drugs, alchohol, dancing, etc; people use things to escape.

Life isnt fair, and everthing happens for a reason. Those are little snipets of advise that everyone around me has told me my entire life. People die, we get bad grades on tests, people are mean and stupid, and the internet isnt working. There's numerous things that can go wrong in life, and people deal with their problems certain ways.

Some people believe that they can escape the horrors of reality through substances. Drugs and alchohol merely help them not think about the world around them, and they feel they are happier when they are drunk or high. However, being out of a regular state of mind doesnt get rid of pain or problems, it just numbs people from them. They dont think about their problems because their brains arent working right, and therefore they escape.

However, running away from your problems and life isnt always the best thing for people. Its very easy to get tired from running all the time, and it has its wear on the body. Their is no way to escape every bad thing that happens. You have to merely except it, learn from it, and live your life.

If you can master that little piece of advice, then everyday, you are in Funkytown.

"Take me to pleasure-town" -Anchorman

In the hit movie, "Anchorman" Will Ferrell's love interest (played by Christina Applegate) makes the reference in the title of this post refering to sex. That's another way you could analize the lyrics of Funkytown.

The guy she could be bangin could be incredibuly bad in the sack. Sex is supposed to be an intimate and amazing experience for both members who participate. He could be that selfish guy who just gets what he wants then dips out and goes to sleep.

So one day she just gets pissed and up and leaves to find someone better. She looks around all over trying to find someone who will take her to "Funkytown." That place where she just has the greatest sex ever!

Another way you could look at is as if she was someone struggling to get some commitment out of her relationship. She could be with some amazing guy who is afraid of making the next step. Sure they are both interested in the "big step" but neither have them has made a move. They "Talk about it, talk about it, talk about it, talk about it" but nothing ever happens.

Finally, the girl gets fed up one day and just straight up asks her man, "Wont you take me to, Funkytown?" She is ready to make that next step and give herself to him.

However, the song never resolves itself. Who knows if anyone got takin to funkytown?

Fuck That...I just Wanna Dance!

Life can be very stressful sometimes. School work can be overwhelming, the kids can be a hassle, it's hard to pay the bills, your job annoys you, and the hobo down the street peed on your cat. It's a pretty crappy day I think.

Some people in order to calm themselves down use drugs and alchohol. They use these numbing agents to not think about the pain. However, in the wise words of Bob Dylan,
"you know that there's no drug that'll do for the healin
'And no liquor in the land to stop yer brain from bleeding"
Using substances to deal with pain is a sign of addiction, and a horrible habit. Substances nearly numb the pain for a small amount of time, instead of dealing with the pain head on. Of course it isnt exactly the healthiest response either.

The singer of this song could have had a really bad day and needs to just chill out and relax, so she wants to go to this Hype Ass Club she heard about called, Funkytown. Only problem she has is she can't get there cause on top of her shitty day, her car rolled off a cliff and she has no ride. So she's askin to get a ride there so she can just dance and have a good time, and relieve her stress.

Take your own damn self to Funkytown!

In life, we like to see ourselves as independent and free. Our parents raise us so one day when we leave home, go off to college, and eventually to live off oun our own, we can fend for ourselves and be ok. As children, we dream of going to our jobs, making money, and living on our own supporting familes of our own, just as our parents did for us. For some, however, that dream takes a lot more effort.

Not everyone in the world has a peachy-keen lifestyle. While we live in beautiful homes and are able to attend this great establishment, there are others who live in huts in the jungle, and don't even know how to read. The world is full of injustices in which others have better starts at that dream than others.

Throughout time there have been multitudes of "rags to riches" stories in which some bum from Atlanta, Georgia works hard and ends up playing basketball for the Atlanta Hawks. Stories of how people come from nothing, but through their own hard work, they get to the top. It's nearly impossible to live in our world without the help from others. The places we live, the food we eat, the jobs we hold, are all controlled by the rest of the world around us.

The singer of Funkytown could be one of those poverty-stricken people who are just trying to make end meet. She could work 4 jobs to support her 3 kids, but it still isn't enough sometimes. When she asks "Wont you take me down, to funkytown" it could be interpreted that she is pleating for help from others. Funkytown is just a metaphor for being OK, and shes worked hard to get there. However, she needs the help of other people, not just herself, to get there.

"Gotta Keep me Movin, Keep Me Groovin, with Some Energy"

"All work and no play makes John a Dull Boy."

If you live your life with all seriousness in mind, you will be stressed and unhappy. No one likes doing all work, all the time. Even in school, Teachers know that they can't keep a students attention for more than 20 minutes or so. In response to that, they use different but interesting teaching techniques to help students learn.

Everyone has their own stress relieving techniques. Some people go running to release endorphins to the brain. Some people meditate, or do yoga to calm themselves. The woman singing in this song sounds like she hasn't exactly had a good time in this "town" of hers. She wants to just chillax and relieve some stress. She wants to find a place to "keep her groovin."

So, she poses the question to people on who is going to take her to funkytown. Funkytown could be a literal chill city, or just a disco club. Either way, the singer wants to go to funkytown so she can shake her groove thing, and just enjoy life to the fullest.

Gotta Move On

The song, “Funkytown” by Lipps Inc. can literally be taken as someone needs to be taken to “Funkytown.” In life, there are multiple transitions which nearly every human faces. The transitions from childhood to adulthood, from high school to college, or from college to the real world are transitions which many people experience. The transition from high school to college to high school is one I have just made myself.
Though I am having a marvelous time in school, there are definitely moments when I feel like I don’t belong; like I don’t fit in. Sometimes I feel as though I just want to leave and go back to the place where I belong. The groove in the song talks about the same thing.
“Gotta make a move to a town that’s right for me.
Town to keep me moving, keep me grooving with some energy.”
Sometimes if the move to a new place doesn’t work out, you can just get up and go. That’s what the singer in Lipps Inc wants to do. Moving to a new place is hard, and everyone just wants to belong. To her, “Funkytown” is just a place where everyone has fun, and everyone gets along. A place where she feels right, and where she can be herself.
